Paul Akinyemi is a doctoral researcher in the Green Electrochemical Research (GreenER) lab at Clarkson University.Â
He earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2019/2020 and later completed his MS degree in the same discipline at Clarkson University in 2023. He is currently a PhD candidate under the the supervision of Dr. Taeyoung Kim at Clarkson University.
Paul's broad expertise is in the intersection of Renewable Water-Energy Electrochemical Systems. He leverages his expertise in water treatment, water reuse, and electrochemical desalination technologies to address environmental and sustainability challenges in water-energy systems. Specifically, he focuses on water-energy electrochemical separation technologies, with applications in PFAS isolation, lithium extraction, resource recovery and electrochemical desalination techniques. His research has appeared in prestigious platforms such as the American Chemical Society's Applied Materials and Interfaces journal, Environmental Science and Technology Letters journal, Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors' conference, New York State Center of Excellence in Healthy Water Solutions conference, and other relevant technical meetings.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Paul serves as a Teaching Assistant during certain semesters, contributing to the enhancement of students' educational experiences. His collaboration with professors has involved various areas, including Material Balances, Chemical Reactors, Fluid Flow Laboratory Projects, and Process Control.
During his free time, Paul enjoys playing soccer, volunteering, and going to the gym.
